General Responsibilities 

A Lead Groundskeeper is directly responsible to the Assistant Director of Facilities.  The Lead Groundskeeper supervises the Grounds staff and performs all the duties of a Groundskeeper.  The Lead Groundskeeper is primarily responsible for the upkeep of all green areas and planter boxes on campus.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Grounds Staff in completing their daily tasks
  • Schedules, assigns and coordinates the Grounds Staff with the assistance of the Assistant Director of Facilities
  • Cuts and edges lawns, pulls weeds, trim shrubs, maintain planters, drain grates, gutters, and down spouts
  • Will train the staff on proper use of the Grounds equipment and monitor the use
  • Assist with moving and setting up chairs, tables, and platforms
  • Maintain & repair irrigation system to insure optimal use of water
  • Maintains off-site facilities as directed
  • Ensure all Grounds staff uses proper PPE and work is done in a safe manner
  • Reports any potential safety concerns to the Assistant Director of Facilities
  • Performs other work as directed

  • Have a working knowledge of all types of landscaping equipment
  • Must be able to be able to bend, reach, and climb ladders/stairs in the performance of their duties
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Prior Lead Groundskeeper experience preferred
  • Ability to carry/lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use the following power tools: Mower, edger, trimmer, and blower
  • Must be able to follow all applicable safety rules and procedures
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Assistant Facilities Manager or Facilities Manager

This is full time, 40 hours a week, 12 month position.  Schedule will be 7:00am – 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. This position reports directly to the Assistant Facilities Manager.
