Bridge Classroom Teacher Job Description

Position: Full-Time Teacher
Reports to: Director of Student Support

The Christ School is looking for dynamic educators to serve as classroom teachers for grades 2-5. The duties and responsibilities of the classroom teacher involve instruction directly related to students with dyslexia.
● Evidence and articulate a faith and relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
● Bachelor’s degree or higher in education from an accredited college/university
● Evidence of at least (3) years of exemplary classroom teaching experience and support for children
with learning differences
● Proficient in the understanding of children with dyslexia
● Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
● Superior planning, organization, and time management skills
● Demonstrate creativity and flexibility in planning and delivery of instruction
● Trained and certified Orton-Gillingham instructor
Instruction and Integration
The Bridge Classroom Teacher will:
● Collaborate with other classroom teachers, families, and the Director of Student Support
● Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that
reflect an understanding of the dyslexic learning styles and needs of students in all subject areas
● Work cooperatively with other classroom teachers to facilitate grade level standards
● Observe and evaluate student performance and development
● Provide small group instruction based upon students’ specific needs as documented by an educational
evaluation and classroom progress
● Use formative and summative assessments and document student progress and achievement; assess
and analyze student strengths and needs; design and implement appropriate instruction to facilitate
learning and growth
Leadership and Professional Growth
The Bridge Classroom Teacher teacher will:
● Participate in Orton Gillingham reading training and multisensory math professional development
● Stay abreast of current research by attending professional development related to learning disabilities
● Participate in divisional meetings, school meetings, and parent meetings
● Establish and maintain communication with parents about their children’s academic progress and
● Work with the Director of Student Support to identify valuable instructional resources to meet student
