Music/Theater Teacher

Website Santiago Christian School

Music/Theater Teacher – Santiago Christian School seeks a trained and visionary Music/Theater Teacher to join a dynamic team of faculty in a growing fine arts program. SCS is committed to a vision of becoming a model for excellence in the arts in the Dominican Republic. Santiago Christian School’s music program is Pre-K to 12 and includes various basic music classes and electives. The Music/Theater Teacher will teach a variety of music classes and help direct a fully staged musical theater production, with optional opportunities to teach private lessons. This teacher will also work to support arts education with our partner schools, ministries which serve some of the poorest communities in Santiago. An experienced candidate may also be considered for a leadership position (coordinator) in the fine arts department.

A popular ukulele club, growing choir, and several worship bands are included in our current program. Future planning includes a piano lab with ongoing fundraising. Prominent local musicians have begun to provide private lessons with the goal of developing some chamber ensembles. Administration is prioritizing the expansion of the fine arts program with the development of a local Fine Arts Council and funds targeted for the expansion of our music program. It is truly an exciting time to be a music teacher at SCS. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with a U.S. state teacher certification as well as evidence of an evangelical Christian faith commitment. Two years of experience is preferred, and previous international teaching experience is a plus. Basic understanding of Spanish is helpful, but not required.
