Position Summary: To fulfill the mission of Legacy Christian Academy through providing Theater instruction to students in grades 5-8

* Introduce and develop age appropriate acting practices and techniques

* Encourage creativity and confidence through individual presentations

* Order scripts and coordinate staging, including sets, props and costumes for class performances

* Coordinate all aspects of a Middle School production. This includes sets, props, costumes, tech, lighting, sound, after school rehearsals and backstage management.

* Create a classroom environment to develop an appreciation of Theater as part of general culture

Education/Experience:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Theater
Minimum of three years experience preferred
Certifications:

None required

 

Language Ability:

Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral expression; ability to relate effectively with trustees, school personnel, parents, students, and other school constituent groups and individuals Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate competency with basic word processing, and School Management Software. Ability to use basic office equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Teachers are responsible for the safe supervision of students both inside and outside the classroom including, but not limited to the, hallways, and carline.

 

Travel Requirements:

Rarely is travel required. However, professional development travel may be required.
