Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications for the position of Guidance Counselor to begin in 2022. The Guidance Counselor, under the direction of the Director of Counseling and College Guidance, is responsible for communicating with assigned students on academic, spiritual, and personal matters. The Guidance Counselor is available to serve students and parents and support the Counseling Department team, working in collaboration with all administrators, staff, and faculty. This is a full-time and exempt position.
Master’s degree in counseling or a related area. (LPC licensure is not a requirement.)
Experience with private or public school counseling is beneficial.
Knowledge and experience guiding students through the college guidance and application process.
Classroom teaching experience is beneficial.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Must be self-starting and able to multitask. Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills are required. Excellent presentation skill is important and expected.
Proficient in basic technology applications. Google Apps knowledge is expected (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).
Contribution to the life of the school outside of regular duties is expected.
Represent the school in a positive light and be a strong spokesperson for the school.
