Fort Bend Christian Academy is seeking a Director of Finance.

The Director of Finance is responsible for all financial and operational oversight of the school.  Fort Bend Christian Academy seeks an effective leader who can provide strategic direction and oversee all matters related to finance, budget, risk management, and related policies and procedures of the school.


  • Be a mature Christian who supports FBCA’s Statement of Faith and whose lifestyle is consistent with the school’s Declaration of Values.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
  • A minimum of five years proven leadership experience and successes in business administration, finance or accounting.
  • Strong experience in operational and strategic planning, organizational management, budget development, expenditure monitoring, and staff management.
  • Knowledge of business and not-for-profit accounting principles, procedures and practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with school personnel, parents, students, and other representatives from the business community.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, team management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent budgeting and financial management background.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically that addresses both short- and long-term goals.
  • Ability to supervise and manage multiple functions and activities.
  • Ability to work effectively as team member and as an executive level administrator.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer programs for accounting, databases, and spreadsheets.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the School’s mission, values, goals and priorities and an ability to ensure that all are considered in developing short- and long-term financial strategies.
  • Provide the Head of School detailed financial information and forecasts and collaborate to implement the school’s strategic plan, school goals and initiatives.
  • Direct all fiscal activities including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and benefits, human resources, bank deposits, accounts reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Maintain a strategic financial plan and overall financial model that will demonstrate the trends and requirements of the school’s advancement plan and will forecast future year’s cash budgets and positions.
  • Prepare the annual operating and capital budgets for the Head of School and Board of Trustees and any additional reports necessary to assist with their evaluation.
  • Manage the approved budget and prepare monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Manage banking relationships and oversee the investment portfolio and cash position of the organization.
  • Develop and manage a system of internal controls and provide oversight in order to ensure the operating effectiveness of the system.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the school’s risk management.
  • Serve as the school’s steward of 501(c)(3) status to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Manage the school’s 403(b) account and coordinate with external auditors for the annual financial audit and Form 990.
  • Evaluate long-range economic trends and develop projections for future enrollments and provide research and analysis for best strategies to strategically enhance financial performance.
  • Advise the Head of School on all financial and business-related matters of the school.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.
