Fort Bend Christian Academy is seeking a Director of Communications and Marketing for the 2021-2022 school year.

Fort Bend Christian Academy seeks a dynamic leader to develop and implement innovative communication and marketing plans consistent with the School’s mission and branding.  This position will be responsible for the planning and implementing of all marketing strategies, communications, and related services, including content management that highlights the schools programs and people to a variety of internal and external audiences.

Qualifications

  • Be a mature Christian who supports FBCA’s Statement of Faith and whose lifestyle is consistent with the school’s Declaration of Values.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field.
  • A minimum of five years proven experience and successes in marketing, communications, or public relations.
  • Proven successful writing and editing experience with a variety of print and online resources to engage stakeholders, donors, and other key constituents.
  • Previous experience developing a comprehensive communications and marketing plan that addresses both short- and long-term goals.
  • Experience using interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with a broad audience, including students, parents, faculty and staff, alumni, media and other community organizations.
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications, website management, and social media content.
  • Experience using social media platforms to share and distribute news and information to internal and external audiences.
  • Must have strong attention to detail; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Must have a strong customer service orientation towards all members of the school’s stakeholders and extended communities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the Head of School, co-workers, parents, students, and other constituents.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment in making decisions.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Possess a high level of creativity, initiative, and strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of public relations and strategic communication and marketing best practices.
  • Familiar with Adobe products, Blackbaud systems and/or Office programs.
  • Knowledge of current practices in HTML design and basic website coding.
  • Excellent managerial skills including at least 2 years of previous experience successfully supervising staff and managing advancement programs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the School’s mission, values, goals and priorities and an ability to ensure that all are considered in developing communication strategies.
  • Responsible for creating and coordinating a strong public relations program that enhances the School’s image and position within the community and facilitates communications with internal and external audiences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with staff, faculty and other school stakeholders to identify compelling stories and opportunities that inform, engage and inspire the FBCA community and relevant external stakeholders.
  • Develop and recommend short- and long-term strategies, policies, and budgets for the marketing and communications program and its activities.
  • Establish a cohesive branding plan for the school including use of school logos, email systems, print marketing strategies, etc.
  • Stay abreast of new developments and best practices in the fields of marketing and communications to help the School operate with initiative and innovation.
  • Plan and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that includes all avenues for digital, social media, and traditional marketing and compile performance metrics and results to ensure strategies are efficient and effective.
  • Continually review changes to the market, consumer trends and the activities of competitors, adjusting the marketing plan as necessary.
  • Ensure digital and paper publications, both in writing and in design, are of the highest quality.
  • Create content, including print, photography, social media, website, and public relations, that highlights the School’s programs and people and engages a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Lead and monitor the strategy for the School’s website administration and coordination, ensuring that new and consistent information is received from divisions, departments, and posted regularly.
  • Collaborate with the Head of School to manage media relations efforts and maintain relationships with members of the media.
  • Oversee the generation of press releases and promotion of special school events.
  • Collaborate with Advancement, Admissions, and parent groups to manage special events, rebranding/logo development, capital campaign communications and outreach.
  • Coordinate school engagements by communicating effectively and professionally to leaders and colleagues across the divisions.
  • Manage efforts to seek regular input from the school’s key stakeholders regarding the quality of programs and services and the school’s relevance and position in the community.
  • Oversee Spirit Store merchandise creation and selection, serve as liaison for Sue Mills uniform store, and facilitate Uniform Resale with parent volunteers.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.
