First Presbyterian Day School (FPD) is a 3K-12th grade Christ centered, college preparatory independent school located in Macon, Georgia which exists to educate and equip children to change the world for God’s glory.

Oversees, studies and reviews science, math, technology, art, and engineering objectives school-wide with Curriculum Office, makes suggested changes as needed. Creates a STEM Scope and Sequence, which verifies vertical and interdisciplinary alignment of STEM curriculum.

• Suggests ways to enhance the physical learning environment to promote STEM exploration through a Biblical Worldview
• Works with the technology department regarding the integration of technology to promote learning
• Works with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math teachers to coordinate STEM
• Coordinates US Honors STEM Program
• Teaches STEM research class in coordination with the US STEM Honors Program
• Teaches Middle School Project Lead the Way STEM electives
• Manage and coach Middle School Robotics Program
• Works with principals regarding STEM competitions and Science Olympiad
• Reviews STEM course sequences and makes recommendations for any changes
• Works with principals on organizing annual Family STEM Night
• Creates and partners with parent STEM organization
• Responsible for developing an environmental element to the STEM focus using the of FPD nature trail, butterfly garden, and vegetable garden
• Organizes, develops, coordinates, and provides trainings for administration and professional staff related to STEM best practices.
• Conducts school-wide parent meetings on STEM
• Researches and applies for grants in coordination with development office and makes appropriate proposals to senior staff
• Implements and oversees grants as needed
• Works with the business and development offices on allocation of donated funds
• Partner with communications and development in promoting FPD STEM program to the community at large
• Assists with the STEM budget school-wide
• Teach summer STEM classes
• Creates educational opportunities for students through outreach to community, university, and business resources: reviews LS Field trips (scope and sequence for STEM Field trips)

• Current State certification
• Master’s degree in related field strongly preferred
• 3-5 years elementary to upper school level teaching experience in science, math or technology preferred
• Knowledge of inquiry-based learning
• Be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work on multiple projects concurrently
• Positive, flexible, and friendly
• Independently driven team player
• Demonstrates experience and a love for STEM education
