Summary Description: The High School Assistant Principal is a critical leadership position that supports the High School Principal in providing a school setting that partners with families to inspire academic curiosity, impeccable character and Christian leadership grounded in Biblical truth. This position joins the High School Principal in leading and supporting the High School faculty and staff in the delivery of instruction that produces students who live with purpose and lead with intent for God’s glory alone.

Essential Functions

Administrative Support

Designee of the High School Principal
Assist the High School Principal in maintaining a collaborative learning community
Assist High School Principal in Essential Expectations of HS Faculty and Staff accountability
Collaborate with the High School Principal in supporting the professional development goals for the school
Meet and confer with students, parents, faculty and staff

Instructional Management

Assist the High School Principal in developing and maintaining an effective educational program consistent with State and Federal guidelines and the mission, policies and goals of the School
Assist the High School Principal in the oversight of curriculum implementation, and the regular review and research toward best practices
Assist in the academic setup for Summer School courses
Prepare final exam logistics with High School Principal and SAS Department
Assist with High School test logistics and days (ACT, PSAT, AP)
Create master schedule with High School Principal and Academic Counselor
Assist with course drop/add process
Collaborate with High School Nurse, teachers, parents, and counselors regarding student rebound plans
Explain and interpret the school’s curriculum / instructional goals and objectives to teachers, parents, students
Assist with student placement in academic and elective classes.

Work Environment

Help conduct safety drills; respond to and supervise fire drills, lockdowns, and severe weather alerts pertinent to the High School
Maintain a thorough understanding of all school rules, policies and expectations, and enforcement.
Report inappropriate behavior to School Administration in order to maintain a safe learning environment
Make a constructive effort to protect all students from conduct detriment to learning, health or safety

Personnel Management

Collaborate with the High School Principal in maintaining and supporting High School faculty/staff culture
Support faculty and staff academically, spiritually and emotionally
Assist in the collaboration, support and accountability of Department Chairs in their leadership roles
Assist in evaluation of teachers by setting expectations, collecting data, and providing feedback on a regular basis
Supervise teachers and departments as assigned by the principal
Supervise College and Academic Counseling Department
Assist teachers in evaluating methods and materials and developing effective learning plans and classroom management techniques

Student Management

Assist in the planning and execution of the orientation of new and returning students, making sure expectations, systems, rules and protocols are understood
Ensure student safety at all times and manage all potential risks
Serve as an additional administrator to handle disciplinary and behavioral issues in the high school

School/Community Relations

Assist in leading in spiritual growth opportunities within the school
Attend performances, high school events, athletic competitions and administrative functions, so as to maintain presence on campus and gain visibility as the High School Assistant Principal
Collaborate with High School Principal to build a positive culture throughout the high school inclusive of staff, students and parents
Assist in communication with faculty and staff, parents and students
Assist in the planning of High School student and parent events
Assist with parent events and Open Houses.

Qualifications

Spiritual

Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ demonstrating evidence of continual spiritual growth
Belief and a strong passion for the mission of Fellowship Christian School

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree (preference for Master’s Degree required in education administration or working towards one)
Three to five years of experience in a similar position preferred
Extensive experience working with administrative responsibilities

Job Skills

Knowledge of curriculum and instructional programs and practices for the high school level student
Motivated self-starter, strategic thinker, with organization and initiative
Has expectation of excellence and a demonstrated interest in providing a high-quality student experience
Exceptional interpersonal skills, a collaborative, yet clear and decisive leadership style
Management and supervisory skills
Ability to relate effectively with students, their families, and school personnel
Strong writing and communication skills
Solid working knowledge of technology support programs including Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
Maintain a strict code of confidentiality in conversations with personnel, students and families

Physical

Regularly required to listen, physically direct, and speak
Position requiring mobility, including bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), pushing, walking
Use of hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
Specific vision abilities required including close vision, distant vision, color vision and depth perception
Must be capable of standing and/or sitting at a computer for extended periods of time, be capable of repetitive movements of wrists, hands and fingers
Must be capable of occasionally carrying and moving small objects
