Director of Communications and Marketing
Website Brentwood Academy
Brentwood Academy (BA) seeks a Director of Communications and Marketing to be responsible for implementing strategic plans to promote the school; providing expert counsel to school leadership in delivering key messages with consistency and continuity; and reinforcing the school’s mission and goals. As the institutional storyteller, the Director captures the ethos of the hallways, classrooms, stage, and playing fields and drives the content pipeline to create and deliver consistently compelling communications for the entire school community. The Director serves on the administrative management team and reports directly to the Associate Head of School/Dean of Enrollment Management and External Affairs.
The Director writes news releases, posts school news online and through social media, and cultivates relationships with local media representatives to generate positive news coverage. He or she crafts and drives a multi-year marketing strategy; provides communications support to departments school-wide; oversees crisis communication strategy, planning, and implementation; monitors all forms of media to ensure that all constituencies receive timely and up-to-date information; and responds to online feedback as appropriate. The Director manages BA’s internet presence, including the website and all social networking channels; operates as traffic control to maintain, prioritize, and implement school-wide projects for print, website, social media, digital assets, and ongoing requests; and analyzes market trends, website traffic, and paid advertising for reports to the leadership team.
Candidates should hold degrees in journalism, communications, public relations, or related fields and have five or more years of relevant full-time experience in media relations—reputation management, public relations, writing, editing, and publications project management in a business or
educational setting. They must have superior writing, speaking, and editing skills; familiarity with the AP Style Guide; and experience creating content for social media platforms and crafting compelling print, digital, and broadcast advertising campaigns tied to admission strategic goals. The Director must be skilled in diplomacy, driven by collaboration, able to work well with multiple constituents, and fully aligned with BA’s mission and values.
Founded in 1969, Brentwood Academy is a non-denominational Christian school, located just outside of Nashville.
